Sanya Luhuitou Peninsula is not a popular beach destination till 2010 as Dadonghai Beach is just less than 5 minutes driving from Downtown Sanya. Actually, Sanya Luhuitou Peninsula is a traditional local fishing village with small ferries connected to downtown Sanya. But Luihuitou has been the location of State Guest House since 1950s, and the former China's top leaders including Prime Minister Zhou Deng and other international guests stayed in Luihuitou State Guesthouse & Resort which was built in 1956 as a exclusive resort to Chinese top leaders. The Luihuitou State Guest House & Resort was rebuilt in 2010.
The Sanya government had a long talk even fighting with the fishing villagers to developed this area. Actually to sell most of the land to a big company. Now the whole Luhuitou Peninsula is managed by one Company: Sanya Serenity Coast Co., Ltd which built hundreds of flats, serviced apartment, villas and intercontinental Resort Sanya, the first Intercontinental Resort in Sanya.

Though the big company has built flats, serviced apartments, villas and resorts, still part of the land are occupied by local fishermen. It is nice to see some local areas during your holiday: their simple way of life. There are some local restaurants, shops and supermarket at good prices. Maybe this is the may difference between Yalong Bay and Luhuitou Peninsula. You don't see any local life on Yalong Bay, only resorts and tourists. The Luhuitou Peninsula is nice too facing South China Sea. You have a whole view of Sanya Bay.

Transportation to & from Luihuitou Peninsula: It is easy to get taxi from downtown Sanya to Luihuitou Peninsula, but hard to get a taxi on the road to leave the Peninsula. So please book your transportation in advance if you leave to Sanya Airport, Sanya Train Station or Sanya Bus Station. There are 3 buses from Downtown Sanya to Luhuitou Peninsula: No.3 and No.22, so it is easy to get in or out of Luhuitou Peninsula by public transportation.
