There is no direct flight from Beihai to Haikou or Sanya Hainan Island. Travel by scheduled boat/ferry is the only fast option. The ferry/boat from Beihai to Haikou runs over night. But ferries/boats are depending too much on the weather conditions. So if you travel in the raining and typhoon season from June to Oct. we suggest that you don't choose the ferry/boat for a long term plan. You will get a confirmed answer maybe just 3 days in advance if there is typhoon or not.

Normally reservation is not required as the ferry/boat has plenty of seats and rooms available all the time.

It is easy to travel from Beihai to Haikou by overnight boat/ferry, but no direct boat/ferry from Beihai to Sanya. You could get bus at Xiuying Harbour upon arrival to Sanya at around RMB80/peson.
