Get to Sanya for the best beaches in China from Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Island, Transportation Haikou-Sanya, Travel Sanya - Haikou Hainan Island China, Sanya-Haikou by Bus, Taxi or Private Car

Haikou is the capital of Hainan Island which has 8 million populations. As there are more flights from Mainland China to Haikou than to Sanya, you may want to find out how to travel from Haikou to Sanya if you have to book a flight to Haikou, but your destination is Sanya.  Here you will find three ways that you could travel to Sanya from Haikou:

First Choice, also the fastest way to travel from Haikou-Sanya: by Bulletin Train or express train or high speed train.

From Dec.30th, 2010, there are bulletin Trains/express trains/high speed trains between Haikou & Sanya within 82-132 minutes at RMB95/person/way from Downtown Haikou and RMB84/person from Haikou Airport to Sanya. The station name in Downtown Haikou is Haikou East Station on Longkun Road and Meilan Station (Haikou Airport).

The trains stop on different stations along the east coast of Hainan Island, so the fast direct one arrives Sanya within 82 minutes and the one with most stops arrives in Sanya within 2 hours and 12 minutes. The train runs every half an hour with first train at 7am and the last one at 0930pm.

Second Choice: by express bus from Haikou to Sanya within 3.5 hours.

There are buses from 7am to 11pm daily from Haikou East Bus Station (Haikou Dongzhan) on Haifu Road to Sanya Bus Station. The buses run 3 hours non-stop along the east high way. It  costs RMB60/person/way in a deluxe bus with air conditioner. A cheaper one costs RMB45/person, but it stops all the way and it takes 4.5 hours to be in Sanya. So when you buy a ticket from Haikou to Sanya, tell the staff that you need an express bus （Chinese: Kuai che). The bus schedule Sanya-Haikou: From 7am to 6pm, every 20 minutes/bus. From 7pm to 11pm, every hour/bus.

Third Choice to travel Haikou-Sanya: Private Car
