Sanya-Haikou by Bus, Taxi or Private Car
Haikou
is the capital of Hainan Island with 8 millions populations. As there are more flights from Mainland China to Haikou, you may want to find out what to do if you have to book a flight to Haikou, but your destination is
Sanya.
Here you will find three ways that you could travel to Sanya from Haikou:
First Choice, also the Cheapest one
By Bus to Sanya from Haikou within 3.5 hours at
RMB80/person/way from Haikou South Bus Station, not from East
Bus Station.
There are buses from 7am to 11pm daily from Haikou South Bus Station to Sanya Bus Station. The buses run 3.5 hours
non-stop along the east high way. It costs RMB80/person/way in a deluxe bus with air conditioner and noisy TV also. A cheaper one costs RMB50/person, but it stops all the way and it takes
4.5 hours to be in Sanya.
The bus schedule
Sanya-Haikou: From 7am to 6pm, every 20 minutes/bus. From 7pm to 11pm, every hour/bus.
If you are travel alone, bus is the best choice as it is cheap, convenient and safe.
Bus Sanya-Haikou
Second Choice:
By Taxi from Haikou to Sanya within 3 hours at
RMB400-500/way/taxi (normally Volksvagen Jetta) max.4 adults
Taxi is the easiest way to go and you could find almost everywhere in Haikou. But you have to barging and make a deal with the driver before you start.
Please try at
Haikou Airport upon arrival, there are taxies to Sanya which costs
RMB350-400/way, but it is not guaranteed.
If two and three people travel together and you want to save time, taxi is a good choice.
Third Choice:
By Private car to Sanya from Haikou within 3 hours at
RMB600/way/car max. 3 adults or 2 adults with 2 kdis or RMB1300/way/van max.7 persons and 3 small kids. Our driver speaks Chinese.
Private cars/vans are always in a better conditions with our
own drivers.

Last Choice:
There are 3 trains from
Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to Sanya stop over in Haikou. So
traveling by train from Haikou is another option. I checked all the
time table, the best one is K407 from Guangzhou to Sanya which
arrives at Haikou Train Station at 0850am and leaves Haikou at 9am.
The train arrives at Sanya Train Station at 1230pm and costs
RMB80/way the same as bus. It may happen that the seats are all sold
out. Please let us know 48 hours in advance for train tickets
