Sanya, the southernmost city on
the golden coast of Hainan Province, China, has won the bid to
host the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12. Based on the schedule, the
first team will arrive Sanya on Feb.4th, 2012.
The Race Village will be ready
for the sailors on Luhuitou Peninsula.

Beach Hotel:
local 4 star resort, last renovation in 2009, good choice for
moderate stay with nice beach,
pool and spacious rooms. Again Landscape Beach Hotel is very popular
among Russian travelers.
Sanya Royal Garden Resort VIP Building: In
terms of room size & quality, Sanya Royal Garden Resort VIP Building
is the best with the great bird view of Dadonghai Beach compared to
Resort Intime & Landscape Beach Hotel. The only shortcoming is Sanya
Royal Garden Resort is not right on Dadonghai Beach, you have to
walk about 5 minutes to Dadonghai Beach.

Based on the
racing plan, the sailors will arrive Sanya Feb.4th. Supporting
teams are looking for accommodations from Jan.29th. The Chinese
New Year is the most important holiday for all Chinese and the
most expensive time of a year in Sanya. Unfortunately 2012,
Chinese New Year falls on Jan.22nd and lasts till Jan.29th which
makes the accommodations arrangement very critical as the prices
during Chinese New Year is 3-5 times more than non-holiday time.
