VOLVO OCEAN RACE in Sanya Hainan China, Sanya: China's Stopover for Volvo Ocean Race

Sanya, the southernmost city on the golden coast of Hainan Province, China, has held the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 Sanya stop over, the only stopover in Asia. Volvo Ocean Race Sanya Stopover was a great success. Caddie Lu & her team worked with Volvo Ocean Race Operation Team for their land transportations and 4 teams for their hotels, land transportation, translator & local actives. But all of us were just too busy with around 600 people for 3 weeks in Sanya, we had no pictures taken with any team members. What a pity.

Team Telefónica: The first team confirmed their book with http://www.sunnysanya.com, very well organized and planning, easy to work with. here is the comments from Maria, the logistics manager:

Caddie Lu was the best help we could have in Team Telefonica while we were in Sanya for the Volvo Ocean Race stopover. She helped us with all the translations, finding doctors, accommodation, airport transfers and anything we needed for the team. Definitely if we go back to Sanya we would like to work with Caddie again since she made our stop and work much easier and pleasant. Thanks Caddie Lu!”

Volvo Ocean Race Operation Team: About 90 staff and management, Caddie Lu & her team worked on the Sanya Airport pick up & transfer arrangement with last minute amendment, flight change or cancellation. With the hard working of all staff, we made it. On the departure day, Caddie Lu was about to say good bye to a key manager in the hotel lobby, but he didn't know the lady was the one he had been talking for the past 3 weeks, so he said: my flight is 2pm, I would like to leave at 10:30, but Caddie Lu arranged a shuttle bus at 11am to the airport.

Groupama sailing team: Caddie Lu & her team booked hotel rooms for the sailing team, apartments in Blue Sea Guest House  for all the families and all land transportations with last minute amendment/cancellation on flights and hotels rooms. We also arranged some tours for the families around the island. Focusing too much on the teams, we forgot to charge the family for their private tours on the island, but got the money back after their return home.  We had good time with the families in local restaurants. One day, the internet in the apartment was broken, so Caddie Lu went to fix the apartment. The lovely boy around 7 years old brought Caddie breads at 5pm as if he had known that Caddie had nothing since early breakfast, thank you, good boy.

CAMPER with Emirates Team New Zealand: Caddie Lu and her team booked hotel and land transportation for Team Camper in Landscape Beach Hotel on Dadonghai Beach. The logistics manager Sandy is a very friendly, tall & beautiful lady like a model. Caddie & her teams also searched out local wholesale shops for their food & drinks purchasing.  Following is her email after the race:

Hi Caddie,
Thank you so much for the kind words, it's very nice! It has been a massive come back from our 4th place and we are all very proud of our team. Been working massively hard and it paid at the end! I don't know what is the next step with the Volvo Ocean Race and if Camper will be back, but if does, we surely going to be in touch!
Thanks again for all your help, you have been fantastic to work with and I hope to have the chance to work with you again.
Take loads of care and keep in touch!

Team Sanya: The first Chinese entry into Volvo Ocean Race. Team Sanya was recommended by Sanya Tourism Authority as Caddie Lu & her team was the few travel agencies in Sanya who had experience in working with foreign teams with good English. Team Sanya stayed in Luhuitou State Guesthouse, and the families stayed in Serenity Coast Resort. Sophia & Alice from http://www.sunnysanya.com also worked as their baby sitter in the evening when the families went to the big events. All the kids are very good, fell asleep right after their parents left, so Sophia & Alice ended up watching TV or reading for 3-4 hours.
