Before Dec.30th, 2010, bus is the
main means of transportation on Hainan Island.
From
Dec.30th, 2010, there are bulletin Trains/express trains/high
speed trains available along the east coast of Hainan Island.
Now it is easy to travel by express train/bulletin train from Haikou to Sanya within 2
hours. The normal bus takes around 3.5 hours. Your will have a great view along the east coast of
Hainan Island. For flights, it is more expensive to fly out
from Sanya,
so the other option is to take express train from Sanya to
Haikou Meilan Airport, then fly out from Haikou Meilan Airport.
On line booking is
available from Sept.22nd,2011 but all information is only in
Chinese. The website to book express train tickets from Haikou
to Sanya is www.12306.cn . You
must register first, credit card is not accepted, you could only
pay with Chinese debit card on line. Please email us to buy
express train tickets for you in advance. We charge 15% for our
service, and we accept payment with your credit card (3%
surcharge) or bank transfers. You have to exchange the printed
confirmation for paper tickets upon arrival at the train
stations. The check in counter closes 5 minutes before
departure. Your luggage has to be checked.
The tickets are available for
booking 10 days in advance. It is easy to buy the tickets upon
arrival at Haikou East Station or Haikou Meilan Airport. Tickets
with no seat assigned are also available at the same
prices during high season (Dec. --- Feb.). It is possible to get
the tickets changed once even 2 hours after the original
departure time to anytime during the same day. Tickets are
refundable before departure time. Child less than 1.2 meter in
height travel free with parent (s), child between 1.2-1.5 meters
are get 50% off the normal prices. Child more than 1.5 meters
high have to buy adult rate.
Refund Policy:
Refund must be advised before departure time, and refund fee is
20% of the ticket cost.
Amendment Policy:
It is possible to have departure time amended to the same day
trains within 2 hours after original departure time free of
charge, but only once. If no seats available, then the tickets
get invalid
