How to get Sanya, Hainan Island by Train, Bus, Ferry or Flight? You will find all the ways here. There are several ways that you could get to Sanya, Haikou, Hainan Island, the tropical paradise of China:

Road Transportation in Haikou Hainan Island by Taxi or Bus

1. By Train/railway: would be good for travelers with enough time and want to see more on the way, also to experience the China's first cross-straits passenger rail link from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province to Haikou, Hainan Island.

2. By Ferry/Boat: Hainan is the second largest island of China after Taiwan. So traveling to Haikou and Sanya by ferries from Beihai, Guangzhou and Hai'an were the most popular way. Though flying is the easiest way, but still some guests would like to travel by ferry. But personally, I don't suggest a trip by ferry as the poor conditions and services on the ferries and they depend on too much on the weather.

3: By Buses:

Though you could travel to Haikou & Sanya, Hainan Island by buses from some cities of China, but it is really a hard journey. I don't think it is a good idea to sit in the same bus with for over 12 hours.

4. By Flights:

As a port city, 99% of the visitors arrive Haikou and Sanya by Flights. Haikou is the capital city of Hainan Island. So there are more flights to Haikou.

 Sanya is the highlight for your holiday in Hainan Island. So if there is no direct flight from your departure city  to Sanya, we would suggest transfer in Guangzhou as there are more than 10 flights from Guangzhou to Sanya.  It takes 3-5 hours from Haikou to Sanya by private car, taxi or bus.
