Sanya Hainan Island is the best place for your holiday during Chinese New Year/Chunjie Holiday/Spring Festival in terms of weather. Most parts of China are very cold, while in Sanya Hainan Island, swimming is still possible in the ocean or out-door swimming pools. Chinese New Year/Chunjie Holiday/Spring Festival  is the most important holiday for all Chinese. The whole county takes a holiday for 7-15 days.  So all resorts, hotels, guest houses, airlines increase their offers at least 3-5 times during this period in Sanya Hainan Island.

For you information, Chinese New Year is the most expensive period in Sanya. The prices will be 5-10 times of the normal days. And no discounts on flights. If Chinese New Year/Chunjie Holiday/Spring Festival is not your only choice for your holiday to Sanya Hainan Island, please avoid this period. But if you come one week before the Chinese New Year or 15 days after the Chinese New Year, you will get very good rates on resorts & flights.

Another option is to stay away from Sanya, but try other parts of Hainan Island including Haikou, Wenchang, Boao, Qionghai where prices are still reasonable during Chinese New Year.
